Some Important Contributions:
Noemie Benczer Koller pioneered in several areas of nuclear and condensed
matter physics.
One important example was a first identification of the double
gamma decay of 40Ca* to the ground state : a
0+ -> 0+
transition.
Another example is the pioneering work observing the interplay of single particle and collective
motions in nuclei, and her work demonstrating that a simple relation based on constant gyromagnetic
ratios for nucleon pairs can describe a broad range of nuclear electromagnetic
transitions in the rare earth region.
Using the Mossbauer effect, she made numerous investigations of magnetic materials.
In addition to her research activities, she has had and continues to have important roles in the administrative infrastructure of physics in the United States.
